Energy Savings

High Performance Homes are great for your wallet.  Energy efficiency features reduce heating and cooling loads substantially, so energy bills are significantly lower than in standard homes.

By using ICF’s (insulated concrete forms) for our foundation and sometimes even the walls, the cooling costs of your home can be reduced by up to 70% compared with a conventionally built home.

An HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilator) runs quietly and continuously, providing fresh air throughout your home.  The heart of an HRV is the heat exchange core, which has the function of transferring heat from the exhaust air to the supply air.  The cost of heating the fresh air is reduced by extracting the heat from the outgoing stale air and using it to pre-heat the incoming air.

The Airtight Drywall air barrier system (often referred to as “ADA”) uses the interior drywall finish, paint, gaskets, and caulking to form a continuous rigid air barrier.

Our Sonbuilt High Performance Wall system improves air tightness and provides a durable, solid wall to achieve net zero-energy performance.
